Los Lances is one of the four main beaches for kitesurfing in Tarifa, about 3km from town itself. Therefore, you may face some difficulty in launching and landing your kite. Besides, you will find budget-friendly accommodations at the kitesurf spot. The surroundings around the place are mixed and vibrant.
Cabarete Bay, located on the Northern shoreline of the Dominican Republic is one of the world's best known kitesurf spots, with steady trade winds and an awesome vibe. Cabarete has grown from a solitary fishing village into something of a pilgrimage for many kitesurfers, with pros flocking there to train, and Cabarete even producing some of the world's best freestyle kiteboarders, such as Adeuri Corniel. Cabarete Bay offers a host of kite schools and surf training centers, but there are also plenty of other activities to enjoy as well. If you manage to drag your eyes off the beautiful beaches and take a stroll around the village alleys, you'll find plenty of cosy little restaurants, bars and hangouts, and lots of other kitesurfers to hang out with!
Cumbuco is the closest kite spot to the airport and as such is a pretty common first stopping point for kitesurfers visiting Brazil’s amazing Northern coastline. This former fishing village has become a popular tourist town built primarily around kitesurfing, which is also very popular with Brazilian tourists as well. There are hotels, hostels, restaurants and bars to suit all budgets, and it’s where you’ll find the biggest parties and loads of other kitesurfers to hang out with.
The beach front is a very popular kitesurfing spot and during the season you’ll see hundreds of kites all the way up and down the beach, with a few waves breaking here and there on the various sandbars. There are 2 popular lagoons nearby as well, so you can choose whether you want to kite directly off the beach in the ocean, or travel a little to visit the perfect flat water spots. Because it can get so busy it’s not for everyone, but it’s also a nice place to spend a night after a long flight, before heading further North to explore more of what Ceara has to offer. It’s also a popular starting point for the super long downwind trips you can do in Brazil.
One of the best known spots in all of kitesurfing, Bloubergstrand is kiteboarding heaven if you want to boost monster jumps and kiteloops, or shred some amazing waves with your kite and enjoy endless downwinders. The wind on Bloubergstrand in the season is strong and the waves can get really big, so it’s definitely a spot more suited to kitesurfers with some experience. With Cape Town a short drive away, a beautiful spot with Table Mountain for a backdrop, and amazing food and drink on offer there are several very good reasons this place fills with kiteboarders during the South African summer. Bloubergstrand is also a fantastic spot for family holidays, as South Africa offers so much variety other than just kitesurfing.
