Aliki Beach - sometimes called Saltlake Bay - is just up north of Keros Beach. It has around 2-3 knots more wind. The Meltemi wind is coming onshore from north, so make sure you know how to ride upwind.

The wind usually begins to blow most afternoons from late May and remains until mid-to-late October. This is the Meltemi wind season, the thermal wind which gives much of the area such amazing wind statistics. As it's a thermal wind the forecasts don’t always show it completely accurately, so for a better picture you can chat to the local kite schools to know what to look for. Generally the wind starts light in the morning and picks up by lunchtime, and then blows all the way until sunset. The sunset kite sessions here are incredible, and well worth the trip!The water is flatter close to shore, and you can get some rolling ocean chop and small waves breaking onto the shallower area, so there’s a little bit of something for everyone. Strapless riding and hydrofoiling are very popular here, and it’s a great place to practice for anyone at any level.

The beach can get crowded, especially in August. Be careful when launching and landing, and take care when in teaching zone.

The wind condition around the location makes it an ideal kitesurf spot. Here, the wind flow is a little bit on the gusty side. The peak season lies between June, July, and August. So, the wind speed also naturally rises, i.e., between 17 to 35 knots. And the air temperature remains around 23 to 25 degrees Celsius. But this area is also a thermal spot. Hence, the wind predictions are not accurate, and you cannot rely on that and set your journey. So, we recommend you communicate with the local kite schools and training centers to understand the wind condition before visiting the spot.

If you need a break from kitesurfing, Marmari and Kos have plenty of options to keep you occupied, whether you want action packed excitement or some fresh air and quiet contemplation. Around Marmari itself you can go horse riding or hit the race track for some go karting, and further afield you can experience the history and culture that the Greek islands are famous for. For this reason and a changing climate, wind statistics and forecasts are not 100% reliable. Every year the forecasting websites release a new forecast. Check those before setting out or get the latest wind updates from local kite schools.

At Kastraki beach, visitors can find quite a few excellent taverns, some of which offer amazing views to be stocked at. Spend your day either swimming or sunbathing on the soft white sand. During the day, you can also rent sunbeds. On the coastline, you will find a few shops and restaurants that offer a decent meal at a fair price. Make use of the crystalline sea and go snorkeling or scuba diving to explore exquisite marine life. Or, rent a paddleboard to explore the nearby beaches. If you are done with the water, bargain around those fully equipped mini markets. You can also go hiking in mount Zas which is 1000 meters high. In the evening, stroll around the 3km long beach. Kremaski Beach Kitesurfing in Rhodos - Kiteboarding in Greece

Wind conditions are pretty consistent in Kremasti for kitesurfing, especially throughout the months of June, July and August. During these months, the temperature usually exceeds 30 degrees and remains pleasantly warm even at night, so you won't need a wetsuit for kiteboarding, and you can leave your winter jacket at home. The chance of wind is usually over 90%, and the days are typically sunny with hardly any rain during the summer.&nbsp;The Meltemi thermal wind usually picks up through the morning and blows from the left side of the beach. Between Rhodes and Turkey, it takes a westward swing and pushes its way through the straits so it accelerates into Kremasti. Usually it starts out light in the morning but will average somewhere around 15-20 knots in the afternoon, ideal for learning to kitesurf or practice your best tricks. If you are lucky you will get a morning session, and it’s a perfect spot for hydrofoil kiting as it gets deep quickly.&nbsp;As it’s a thermal spot the forecasts don’t always show exactly what’s going on, so if in doubt contact the local schools for a more in depth explanation of what to look for in the forecast to guarantee wind.

Cape Drepano kite spot itself doesn’t offer much, but there are some cafes and restaurants in nearby Drepano. It’s also a stunning area so renting a bicycle to enjoy the natural beauty is always an option when you’re not kitesurfing, but you’ll want a car to make the most of your time here. Going a little further afield Nafpaktos and Patras are the nearest larger towns, where you can find a bit more going on as well as some more history and culture if that’s your thing. Check out the castle in Nafpaktos for an enjoyable afternoon, just be aware you’ll need to pay the toll to cross the bridge to get there

Cape Drepano Kite Spot has become famous in recent years as pro kitesurfers like Youri Zoon and Paula Novotna have been going there to train, and posting pictures and videos of this idyllic flat water spot on instagram. It offers steady wind and butter flat water behind the “sand” bank at low tide in both West and East wind directions, and you can kitesurf year round, although summer is the main season. It offers wind 250+ days per year but can be fickle and sometimes only a few hours kitesurfing at a time, so it’s best to consult the forecasts and get in touch with the local kite schools if you aren’t sure.&nbsp;As it’s not far from Athens it can get crowded with other kitesurfers particularly at weekends in the season, and you’re pretty likely to run into European pro kitesurfers as it’s a nearby destination with consistent wind. Due to the wind direction, size and shape of the spot this is much more suited to intermediate and advanced riders who are comfortable riding in a rotation: i.e. come in, do your trick, ride out, repeat, so everyone gets a spot to practice. You can learn here with a local school if they offer boat rescue, but it’s not a particularly beginner friendly place.

You can visit a number of historical sites, with the museum of industrial olive oil production being a popular choice, or go really ancient and visit the temple of Messon. Other than that it’s a popular tourist spot, so the usual beaches, sightseeing options are available, or just go for a snorkel in the crystal clear water.&nbsp;

Located on the western side of Lesvos Island, Sigri is a small fishing village with a protected bay and consistent thermal wind all through the summer, making it a great flat water kitesurfing and windsurfing spot. The Meltemi wind which blows from May until October means there is wind most days, so the lack of local amenities won’t be a problem as you’ll probably spend all of your time on the water anyway. There’s no ATM or petrol station in town, so you need to think ahead if you are coming here, but the relaxed local vibe, traditional buildings and local restaurants offering fantastically fresh seafood all add up to a great package if you want to unwind and get away from it all.
