Nazare

Nazaré is known for its predominantly north and northwesterly winds, providing conditions well suited for wave-riding kitesurfers. The wind, which can range from 15 to 30 knots, is typically most consistent during the summer months (June to August). However, the spot really comes into its own during the autumn and winter months, when the infamous Nazaré swells, caused by the Nazaré Canyon undersea formation, start to roll in. Extreme conditions like those found at Nazaré during the winter require not only advanced kitesurfing skills, but also a strong knowledge of ocean conditions, the ability to handle strong and cold winds, and experience in dealing with potentially strong currents.
Sounds nice, I know, but 9 out of 10, this is nothing for you. The waves are enormous and you would most probably die very fast. So just go watch Nazaré when Pros are surfing or maybe some Kitesurfers risk their lives.

Nazaré has a lot more to offer than just kitesurfing. The town itself is a charming location, brimming with historical and cultural sights. Be sure to visit the Sítio neighborhood, perched high above the beach, for stunning views of the coastline. The region's seafood cuisine is fantastic, particularly the caldeirada (a local fish stew). As a surfing hotspot, there's always a lively vibe in town, and you'll find a range of accommodations and surf shops.

Nazaré is about 1.5-2 hours' drive north from Lisbon. There are direct buses from Lisbon to Nazaré, or you can take a train to Valado dos Frades, the nearest station, and then a short taxi ride to Nazaré. Once there, the town is easily navigable on foot or by local bus.
