Marmari Beach Kitesurf season

Marmari Beach Kitesurfing wind conditions

The wind probability is over 90% from July to September, and even the months of May, June, and October you've got a good chance of scoring an epic kitesurf session. A Venturi effect is created by the shape of the mountains and the little strait between Evia island and the Petali Islands, 8km offshore of Marmari beach. The Meltemi thermal wind is what gives Kos it's constant kitesurfing wind during the summer months, and combined with the venturi makes for the strong wind conditions found here. Wind speed usually ranges between 15 to 35 knots making it ideal for kiteboarders. The wind typically begins building in strength in the morning, gradually becomes steadier, and then reaches its maximum strength in the afternoon. The wind ends at sunset, so make sure you don't get caught out kitesurfing when it drops! Sunsets are also a great time to relax and enjoy the view as the wind calms down.
