The Mer d’Emeraude lagoon is renowned for its clear turquoise waters, coral reefs, and abundant marine life, including sea turtles and tropical fish. Nearby Ramena village, approximately 25 kilometers from Babaomby, is a small fishing community offering local Malagasy cuisine, fresh seafood, and markets selling handmade crafts.

The city of Antsiranana (Diego Suarez), located about 25 kilometers from Babaomby, features colonial architecture, bustling markets, and historical sites such as French forts and the Sugarloaf mountain. From Ramena, boat transfers cross the Mer d’Emeraude lagoon to Babaomby, taking around 30 to 45 minutes.

Public transportation options are limited, so private transfers or arrangements through accommodations and kite centers are common. Four-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended for overland travel, especially during the rainy season when road conditions deteriorate. Movement within Babaomby is mainly on foot or by boat due to the lagoon’s geography and limited road access.
