Watamu Beach Kitesurfing wind conditions
Watamu Beach enjoys two trade wind seasons. During the Kaskazi season, which runs from December to April, expect average wind speeds of 20-25 knots blowing from the northeast. The Kuzi season, from June to September, is the windiest time of the year, with average winds of 25 knots and occasional gusts exceeding 30 knots. Both wind systems are constant and provide safe riding conditions, blowing cross and cross-onshore. The Kuzi season also brings the best swells, as the large Indian Ocean waves meet the reef and sandbars.
