Notice

Lake Como has no waves or shorebreak, making it a perfect place for kitesurfing. Windguru or Windfinder might not work for Lake Como very accurately, so it's recommended to rely on the thermic winds starting from 12:00 until sunset. The wind direction will mostly dictate where to surf:

  • If the north wind in Mandello does not come through the chance is high that Dervio is already ridable

  • With south wind you better go to Creamia, Gera Lario or Colico

The kitesurfing schools on Lake Como start the lesson directly on the water preparing the kites in the middle of the lake. The thermic wind (Breva) is ideal for beginners and usually best at Dervio and Cremia where the lake becomes more narrow, and due to the venturi effect, the wind gets stronger there.

We can recommend Zoltan from Epig Gust who is an excellent teacher and great person. Great additional article by Karolina from Let Go to Have it Kite Life can be found here.
