Limnos, a Greek island in the northern Aegean Sea, holds a significant place in ancient Greek mythology as the home of Hephaestus, the god of blacksmiths. Its volcanic past has shaped a diverse landscape, distinct from many other Cycladic islands. The Secret Kite spot, located on the eastern coast of Limnos but not really known. The spot seems to offer similar conditions like Keros Beach which is not too far away.

Secret Kite Kitesurfing wind conditions

The prevalent wind at Limnos Secret Kite is the Meltemi, a regional wind system that blows from the northeast. This wind is primarily thermal, strengthening throughout the day. During the peak season, from mid-June to mid-September, the Meltemi typically ranges from 16 to 25 knots. In the shoulder months of spring and autumn, it can occasionally exceed 30 knots, though it may be gustier in the mornings. The wind usually starts light in the early morning, fills in by midday, and peaks in the afternoon, often holding until sunset. This consistent daily pattern makes it predictable for planning sessions. The northeast direction means the wind is generally cross-onshore to cross-shore within the bay, providing a safe environment for kiting. The large bay offers diverse water states: the northern end, where Secret Kite is located, features butter-flat water due to the offshore wind component and shallow depths. The middle section presents moderate chop and bumps, suitable for freeride. Further downwind, towards the southern end of Keros Beach, small wind-generated waves can be found, offering opportunities for wave riding. The extensive standing area, extending 50-100 meters from the shore, and a sandy bottom free of coral or sea urchins, contribute to the spot's safety and accessibility.
