Kos, an island in the southeastern Aegean Sea, is known for its history, particularly as the birthplace of Hippocrates, the physician, around 460 BC. The island has many archaeological sites, including the ancient Asklepieion, a healing center, and the Ancient Agora in Kos Town, with structures from the 4th century BC. Over time, Kos was influenced by various civilizations, including the Knights of St. John, who built Neratzia Castle in Kos Town in the 14th century. Today, Kos is a location for water sports, including kitesurfing. The Horizon Beach Resort, near Mastihari village on the island’s northwest coast, is a kitesurfing spot with consistent wind and a dedicated surfing center.
