Towards the northern end of the Costa Brava in Spain, close to the French border, lies Sant Pere Pescador. It is a scenic little world set in one of the most beautiful bays in the Mediterranean and has emerged as a premium kite spot over the years. River Fluviá flows through the city and brings a plethora of authentic natural beauty to the kite spot. Sant Pere Pescador keeps a good balance between land and sea. With the greens and yellows of its orchards, and the blue water with golden sand beaches, the place stands as a hidden treasure. Crossing the bay in a hydrofoil with gentle and stable winds is a marvel for the senses.

Sant Pere Pescador is the main kitesurf spot of the whole bay. A wide sandy beach gives you pleasant conditions to practice kitesurfing all year round. The water is flat till 20 meters offshore and becomes choppy with the blowing wind. As the kite spot is free of stones or rocks, kitesurfers often flock in on weekends from spring to summer. The place is suitable for all kinds of kiteboarders, from beginner to advanced. There is a Kite Expert Zone to allow a safe environment for the kitesurfers and other beach strollers. The best time of year to come surfing here is from June till September.

The kitesurf spot Sant Pere Pescador bears the strong Tramuntana wind from the Pyrenees. During the summer months, the sea breeze flows from the southeast, gradually speeding up during the day. You can expect the wind to go up from 12 to 20 knots, but the gusts can go up to 30 knots. Many of the thermal wind dominant kite spots like Sant Pere Pescador have localized wind systems that are much smaller. Around the Kiteboarding Spot Sant Pere Pescador

The kite schools offer courses for both beginners and intermediates to excel at kiteboarding. To obtain lessons from the kite school, plan your trip during the summer. Kite schools are closed during winter. If you are an experienced kitesurfer, just rent your kite gear from the surf shop and set forth to the sea. No need to fear; there is a medical center here. If there is a lack of wind, you can rent a paddleboard and voyage through the Fluviá River or stop to fish. You can rent a bike to wander the coastline. There are a few points for spotting birds at the beach. Among the land sports, here you can go hiking and horse riding. The choice of apartments on the island is diverse. But the kiters usually pick campsites on the beach to stay close to the sea at all times. There are various camping sites south of Empuriabrava. After a good kitesurfing session, gather for a drink and have dinner. Finally, at the end of the day, set your camp beneath the bright moon.

How to get to Sant Pere Pescador and how to bring it about while you're there

From Girona–Costa Brava Airport, take a train to Figueres. From here, rent a car and drive to St. Pere Pescador. Although there is little public transport available, we recommend you rent a car for your freedom.

Notice

Watch out for the swimming zones. In high season June-August kitesurfing is not allowed closed to the beach. To enter the water go more up north.
