The prevailing wind at La Punta is the Breva, a thermal wind originating from the south. The Breva develops on sunny days as the land heats up, typically starting around midday and building through the afternoon. Wind speeds generally range from moderate to strong, often providing steady conditions suitable for both intermediate and advanced kitesurfers. The direction is predominantly side-onshore, which is optimal for safety and allows riders to return to shore easily.

The Breva is most reliable from late spring through early autumn, with the best sessions occurring between April and September. The wind usually becomes kiteable from early afternoon and can last until the early evening. During this period, the consistency of the Breva makes La Punta one of the most dependable spots on Lake Como. Water conditions are typically flat to slightly choppy, with wave heights remaining low due to the shallow waters near shore. This flat water is particularly advantageous for wakestyle and freestyle riders.

Occasionally, northerly winds such as the Tivano or Ricaduta can influence the spot, especially in the early morning or after storm activity. These winds tend to be gustier and less predictable, with the Tivano blowing offshore and the Ricaduta associated with rapid pressure changes. While advanced riders may find these conditions challenging and rewarding, the Breva remains the primary wind for most kitesurfing activity at La Punta.

The sandy beach and gently sloping, shallow entry make launching and landing straightforward. The water warms up quickly in spring and summer, providing comfortable conditions for extended sessions. The spot is generally busiest during the main season, and parking can be limited, so early arrival is recommended.

La Punta is situated within the Pian di Spagna nature reserve, an area known for its biodiversity and scenic landscapes. The reserve is home to a variety of bird species and offers walking and cycling routes along the wetlands and riverbanks. The nearby towns of Gera Lario and Colico provide additional amenities and cultural sites. La Punta is accessible by car via the main road along the eastern shore of Lake Como, approximately 80 kilometers from Milan and 40 kilometers from Lecco. The nearest train station is in Colico, about 2 kilometers from the spot, with regular connections to Milan and other towns along the lake. From Colico station, the kite spot can be reached by taxi, bicycle, or on foot. Parking is available near the beach, but it can fill up quickly during peak season. Public buses also connect Colico with Gera Lario and other nearby towns. Most amenities, including restaurants and shops, are within a short distance of the launch area.
